If you have children and you either live in Perth, or you are planning to visit Perth and are wondering what you could possibly do with the kids, here are a few tips to perthcitifitout.com.au make Perth worth while for the whole family:

1. Heathcote Reserve

Heathcote Reserve is a beautiful spot on the Swan river, on top of a hill, with absolute stunning, sweeping views of the Swan River and Perth City. It has a great playground for the kids (a bit like a pirate ship) and BBQ facilities. There is also a small cafe nearby that sells good coffee, plus the restaurant “Blue Water Grill” if you want to go for something more upmarket.

You can sit back and enjoy the view with a cup of coffee whilst the kids are playing on the big playground, or the whole family can walk down a few steps to the shore of the river and have a stroll along the water. This spot is well worth a visit!

Just a quick word of caution: The playground is not quite so well suited for really small children, there is a section for smaller children but most of the playground is to climb up and slide or climb down. I only felt kind of OK with my kids running around free there once they were 4-5 years old. If they are younger, you have to be on your toes.

2. Point Walter

Also on the Swan River, Point Walter is a meeting point for lots of play groups and families, for BBQ’s on lazy Sundays. You can picnic under shady trees right at the foreshore of the river, and there is a cafe/restaurant right there that sells take away food, too. Kids can play in the river (very shallow) or on the playground. Absolutely beautiful!
